ELIZABETH (BETTY) MOLLARD (nee SIMPSON) We have lost our mom, grandma, sister, aunt and good friend. Mom died peacefully in her sleep Thursday, February 13, 2003. Betty was predeceased by her husband Charles (Snook) Mollard in 1991; a sister Margaret; and a brother Joe. Betty is survived by her loving children, Jim (Anne), and Joe (Diana) and her dear grand-children whom she cherished and loved so much; her sister Teenie (Earl) from Victoria, BC; brother Tom (Dorothy) of Petersfield; and many nieces and nephews in Canada and Scotland. Betty married Snook in 1962. A career at MTS took them to Selkirk, St. George, Powerview and eventually they settled in Stonewall in 1966 to raise their boys. As Jim and Joe married, the family grew and a new career was born for Betty. There was nothing she enjoyed more than her role as "Grandma", whether it involved picking up the kids for swimming lessons, a drive in the country, or for a weekend sleep over, "Grandma was always game". Betty had a huge influence on her family, always supportive and always positive. She has left an enormous void that everlasting memories will help fill. MTS played a big part in Bettys life. She met Snook, her husband and life partner, while at MTS. She stopped to work to raise the boys and after Snooks retirement returned to work on a part-time basis. During her latter years, she also spent many hours volunteering at Oak Hammock and also enjoyed her work at Stonewall Florist. Anyone who knew Betty knew her love of sports. She was an avid fan of hockey, baseball, curling and the horses - whether just watching them or betting (never more than $3.00...her Scottish ancestry showing through). As we mentioned, we have lost someone very special, a mom who loved unconditionally, a grandma who guided with love, a sister who laughed and epitomized family, an aunt who happily shared her heart, and a friend who loved, laughed, guided and shared her positive outlook on life. Viewing will be held on Sunday, February 16 at 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel Stonewall. A memorial service will be held Monday, February 17 at 2:00 p.m. at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall, MB. Private family interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 200 - 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. "Good bye my family" MacKenzie Funeral Home Stonewall in care of arrangements.
