Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRUTH SILVER (nee BLANK) 1916 - 2003 The family of Ruth Silver sadly announces her passing on February 14, 2003. She will be greatly missed by her bereaved husband Mike, daughter Sharon Shell, son Lanny Silver, daughter-in-law Zipora Malamuth, sister Annette Lasker, brother-in-law Harry Lasker, sister-in-law Edith Blank, sister-in-law Kitty Silver, sister-in-law Gertie Silver and brother-in-law Dave Silver, sister-in-law Betty Silver, grandchildren Melanie Shell, Ari, Ilan, and Tamar Silver, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased, by one day, by her devoted brother Oscar Blank, who visited her daily during her final illness until his sudden passing on February 13. She was also predeceased by her parents, Eva and Samuel Blank, and brother Louie. Pallbearers were Ilan Silver, Michael Silver, Dan Moscovitch, Gabbi Vamos, Avi Maslovsky, Morris Silver, Tamar Silver and Melanie Shell. Ruth graduated from St. Johns Technical High School in 1933. After high school, Ruth trained and worked as a hairdresser. She went on to business college where she completed a secretarial course, and worked for Winnipeg Hydro until her marriage in 1944. She devoted herself to her family for the next 59 years. During that time she pursued her interest in music. Ruth was musically gifted. She sang and performed in the Jewish Womens Musical Club in the 1950s and 1960s, as well as in the Bnay Abraham, Rosh Pina and Yiddish Heritage Choirs. Ruth will be remembered as a person who always saw the bright side of things and the best side of people. She appreciated everyone for his or her positive qualities.
