S. LYNNE CASSIDY April 30, 1944 - February 15, 2003 Peacefully, on Saturday, February 15, 2003, with her family by her side Lynne Cassidy passed away at the age of 58. Lynne was predeceased by her mother Beatrice and father Harry. Left to mourn her passing and cherish her memory; her husband Russ; her children, Keith and Karen of Winnipeg; her sisters, Judy (Larry) of Victoria and Wendy (Ken) of Edmonton. Lynne was a special person who touched the lives of many people. As a wife, mother, sister, nurse, friend, and confidant, she was always there to support, listen, care for, and comfort. A selfless person who always put the wants and needs of others before herself. Lynne was a beacon in the storm of life to her, family, friends, and colleagues. In her younger days Lynne was a superb athlete, excelling at many sports. Golf became a great love to her and an activity she enjoyed to the end. Her passed success as a golfer was a reflection of her many talents and attributes. Patience, understanding, determination, focus, a guiding hand, the ability to turn a poor situation into a success and a quiet, but determined confidence. Lynne graduated in 1965 from the Registered Nursing program of the Winnipeg General Hospital. Her career in nursing took her to many places in Manitoba. As well as being a General Duty Nurse in Carman and Brandon, Lynne also worked for the Victorian Order of Nurses and for the last 15 years as the Admissions Coordinator at the Donwood Manor Personal Care Home in Winnipeg. Lynne loved her work and the opportunity to help people through the good and the difficult times. Dedicated to the end she truly loved her time at Donwood Manor and was truly grateful for the opportunity to serve. Lynne will be missed by all for many reasons, but especially for her ability to leave people with a good feeling about themselves and the potential the future holds. We love you my Dearest, absent in body but not in spirit, you shall remain our beacon, you will always remain in our memories and we shall strive to meet your standards in life. You are missed. The family wishes to express a most sincere thank you to Dr. Navaratnam, the staff, in particular Eva from the Pharmacy, of CancerCare Manitoba, the doctors and staff of 3E Riverview Health Centre, in particular Dr. Mulder, Lorraine and Clare. Youre caring and understanding allowed Lynne to leave at peace with herself and with her family. You were her angels on earth. The family also wishes to express a very special thank you to Laura Friesen, Lynnes friend and confidant. Your help and guidance through this difficult time is greatly appreciated. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Donwood Manor Personal Care Home, CancerCare Manitoba, or Riverview Health Centre Foundation (Palliative Care).
