WILLIAM HUYDA August 4, 1918 - February 17, 2003 Peacefully on Monday, February 17, 2003 at Seven Oaks General Hospital with his family at his side, William (Papa) Huyda passed away at the age of 84. He is survived by daughter June and grandchildren, Gary (Ursula), Catherine (David), Lori (Grant) great-grandchildren, Natascha, Katrina, Aliya and Eric, as well as sisters-in-law, Lee, Anne and Lydia. Also left to cherish his memory are numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; his loving wife Mary; brothers, Michael (Stella), Peter (Harriett) and John, as well as brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law from his wifes family. Bill was born and raised in East Kildonan where he resided his entire life. He was employed, and retired as a Captain of the City of Winnipeg Fire Department after 27 years of service. Bill enjoyed driving trips to the United States with his daughter, watching the horse races at the racetrack, spending time with his family, and especially his dog Perky. Memorial service will be held at Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler on February 21 at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Darren Kawiuk from Holy Eucharist Parish officiating. Special thanks to Dr. J. Mayba and Dr. J. Moncek, as well as the nursing staff at Seven Oaks General Hospital. A very special thank you to Lanka, his longtime home care attendant.
