MICHAL MIECZYSLAW SACIUK With great sadness, our family would like to announce the sudden passing of Michal Saciuk at the age of 82. Michal was born in Niemirow, Poland on March 19, 1920. He spent several years in a Russian labour camp during the Second World War. He returned to Poland after the war ended and married his wife Maria in 1948. In December of 1967, Michal and his family immigrated to Canada. At the age of 67, he retired from his job at D. Cohn Trans Canada Ltd. Michals greatest passions in life were his family and friends, playing the accordian, and growing his beloved apple trees which he brought with him from Poland. Michal also loved singing in the choir at St. John Cantius of which he was a faithful parishioner. He will be sadly missed by his friends at Northgate Shopping Centre with whom he went for coffee with everyday. Michal was predeceased by his wife Maria in 1991, and he leaves to mourn: daughter Wendy Wojcieszczyk and husband Stanley, and grandson Stanley Jr. of Calgary; son Wally and wife Elizabeth, and grandchildren, Olivia, Victoria, and Konrad; and daughter Janina, and grandson Stefan. He is survived by his sister Urszula Warszycki and his brother Joseph Saciuk of Poland and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his nephews, Leon Rydzkowski and Jurek and Halina Saciuk and family. The family would like to thank the staff of Seven Oaks Hospital, the Home Care nurses, and the St. John Cantius Choir. Prayers will be held on Friday, February 21 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 22 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Cantius Roman Catholic Church, 846 Burrows Ave., followed by interment at Holy Ghost Cemetery.
