MARY ELLEN (NELLIE) HAGUE It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Mary Ellen Hague on Friday, February 21, 2003 at the St. Boniface Hospital ICU. Nellie is lovingly remembered by George, her husband of 60 years; sons, Tom, John and Ab; daughters-in-law, Barbara and Wendy; grandchildren, Tyler, Adam and Jesse; her brother Frank Melia; and sister Edie Young. She was born in St. Boniface and grew up in Norwood. As a young woman she greatly enjoyed sports (Baseball in the summer, snow shoeing and tobogganing in the winter). After completing high school she worked at Eatons until her marriage. In her middle years her interest for sports continued (Bowling at Coronation Lanes, golf at the St. Boniface and Niakwa Golf Clubs, and season tickets at the Bomber games for over 50 years). Throughout her life she generously volunteered her time. For many years she was a volunteer at the Norwood Community Club, especially involved in the seniors program. In the summer she and George often enjoyed holidays and weekends at their cottage in the White Shell. Nellie also liked to travel and was fortunate enough to travel with George across Canada, Europe and Asia as well as many other places. She was a generous, kind person with a fierce determined nature, she would never give up. Nellie spent over two weeks in the ICU at the St. Boniface Hospital and was treated with great kindness and respect by the nurses and doctors there. She received the best care anyone could ask for. A funeral mass celebrating Nellies life will be held on Tuesday, February 25 at 10:00 a.m. in the Holy Cross Roman Catholic Parish, located at 252 Dubuc St. In lieu of flowers donations in Nellies memory may be made to the St. Boniface Hospital Research Foundation for the Salvation Army.
