KATHERINE LAURA HARBOTTLE (nee PASH) May 1, 1908 - February 21, 2003 Katherine (Kay) (Nana) was the first born child of Alex Pash (LePage) and Margaret Lucy Symonds. She was born on a homestead near Binscarth, MB. She was predeceased by her four brothers, William, Ernest, Arthur and Joe and her sister Margaret. When she was seven her mother died and at 14 she became the homemaker and caregiver to the younger children. For seven years she kept-house as she described it and on May 1, 1929 she left Binscarth to work on a farm near Melita, MB where she met Lawrence Harbottle. They were married in August 1931 and moved to a farm near Binscarth. In 1932 their one daughter Aileen Margaret was born. The depression and severe drought forced them to leave their farm. In 1937 they moved to Holland, MB where they had a butcher shop. In 1941 they moved to Winnipeg where Lawrence became an employee of Swifts and Kay managed their home. Kay and Lawrence joined Norwood Presbyterian Church in 1943 and both were devoted workers in the church. Lawrence died in 1970. Nana was a practical and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a very good cook and her "Three-Fruit Marmalade" was most popular. Her hands were never idle; she was always busy sewing, knitting or crocheting. She was a faithful member of St. Andrews and especially enjoyed attending the 49+ meetings. Many people enjoyed her gift of story-telling. Her legacy is her family, daughter Aileen (Keith), grandchildren, Ken (Wendy), Katherine (Steve) and Mary (Todd) and five great-grandchildren, Kristin, Kyle and Trent, Robbie and Katie. A service to celebrate her life will be held at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 709 St. Marys Rd., R2M 3M8, on Friday, February 28 at 11:00 a.m., Rev. Margaret Mullen officiating. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made in her memory to the Memorial Fund at St. Andrews. "May songs of the angels welcome you to guide you along your way and bring you home before the face of God." THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
