FRANCES (TOOTSIE) J. JAMES (nee PETERSON) On February 21, 2003, in the presence of family, we regret to announce the passing of our mother and amma. Left to cherish her memory and celebrate her life are her children, Laurie Lynn MacIntosh (Doug), David Langrill (Valerie) and Jo-ann Langrill. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandsons, Cameron, Scott and Gordie and her granddaughter Kim. Mom was the fourth daughter of Joe and Kristbjorg Peterson. She was sustained and supported throughout her life by her sisters, Thora McCaine, Olive McCaine, Margaret Kroft and brother Laurie Peterson. She was predeceased by our father George Langrill, her parents, and three brothers, Joe, Denny and Ken. One of the great joys of Moms life was her role as amma to her grandchildren and Auntie Tootsie to many nieces and nephews. Mom was very proud of her Icelandic heritage and loved being one of the "Goolies". Mom was predeceased by her husband Doug James, with whom she spent many happy years following her retirement from the Manitoba Rolling Mill. During these years she developed a special relationship with his children, Carl and Sandra, and Ralph and Mary Ellen and their son Matthew. In her heart, Mom was a lifelong resident of Selkirk. She loved to share a laugh with family and friends, and her unfailing humour helped us all through difficult times. Thank you, Mom. We would like to express our sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff on wards GD4 and GD5 at the Health Sciences Centre. A special thank you to all those who visited Mom in the hospital. She enjoyed the visits very much. A service in celebration of Moms life will be held on Wednesday, February 26 at 11:00 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk with the Rev. Canon Bryan D. Bjerring officiating. If friends so desire and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, Room 109-675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, R3E 0V9. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
