PHILIP BARRY NELSON May 15, 1936 - February 20, 2003 It is with great sadness that we announce Phils sudden passing. He spent his last days doing the things he loved the most, flying his plane, having coffee with friends, and being with his family. Phil will be remembered for his cowboy ways, Okie drawl, love of animals, and buzzing overhead in his red Cessna. Phil was a hard working man and has worked all over the world doing a variety of jobs, including being a Rodeo Clown, Bar Owner, training and racing horses at the track, and in the last number of years he worked as a Mining Consultant. Phil will be lovingly remembered by his wife Lori; daughter Jennifer McRae-King (Jason) and new granddaughter Meguire; as well as his family and children in the United States, Dianna, Robin, David, Stephen, Laurel, Lisa, and their partners and children; his brother Bill Nelson (Debbie) brother-in-law Terry Alderson (Roxy) sister-in-law Lindy Alderson; mother-in-law Ruth Alderson; and his nieces and nephew. Phil was predeceased by his parents, Mel and Jane Nelson; son Michael Nelson; grandson Philip Nelson; and father-in-law Ken Alderson. He will be deeply missed by all, including his dogs Jake and Harley. The family wishes to extend its sincere thanks to our dear friend Michelle Lee and all the staff of Grace Hospital Emergency, as well as the Cartier First Responders. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26 at the Heritage Park Temple, 825 School Road. For those wishing to do so, donations in memory of Phil may be made to the Western Canada Aviation Museum, Hangar T2, 958 Ferry Road, Winnipeg, MB R3H OY8, or the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent St., Winnipeg, MB, R2L 1X3.
