SOPHIE PUDLO It is with great sadness that the family of Sophie Pudlo announce her passing after a brief illness at the Assiniboine Centre, Brandon on Wednesday, February 5, 2003, at the age of 74 years. Sophie was born in Brandon on May 14, 1928, the daughter of Daniel and Pauline Pochynok. Sophie lived her entire life in Brandon, MB. She married Joseph on November 6, 1948 and they were very happily married until his passing in 1987. She enjoyed working at Perths Dry Cleaning and Laundry Services for over 40 years, and after retiring in 1991, devoted her time to her family, friends, and also to her passions of gardening, golfing and bowling. Almost every morning at the crack of dawn from early spring through late autumn, Mom would be found on the golf course with her dearest friend, Alfreda. Throughout the winter months, Mom bowled on the Maple Leaf Ladies and Golden Age Senior bowling leagues. Sophie is survived by her daughter Joelene Skene of West St. Paul, MB; sons, Richard of Winnipeg, MB, Rodney of Regina, SK, and Darren of Neepawa, MB; grandchildren, Lisa and Scott Skene of Winnipeg and Shawn Fritz of Calgary, AB. Sophie was predeceased by her husband Joseph; parents, Daniel and Pauline Pochynok; brothers, William, Lefty, Steve, and Daniel; and sisters, Ann, Eileen and Jean. Prayers were held at Brockie Donovan Chapel on Monday, February 10 at 7:00 p.m. The eulogy was given by her granddaughter, Lisa Skene. Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Augustines Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday, February 11 at 11:00 a.m., Fr. Eric Giddins was the Celebrant. Pallbearers were Ben Cherewyk, John Chorney, Bill Courtice, Christopher Heide, Ken Heide, and grandson, Scott Skene. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society , 415 1st St., Brandon, MB R7A 2W8 in the memory of Sophie Pudlo. Messages of condolence may be placed at www.brockiedonovan.com. Arrangements were in care of Brockie Donovan, Brandon, 727-0694. Dont think of her as gone away- her journeys just begun, life holds so many facets- this earth is only one. Just think of her as resting from the sorrows and the tears in a place of warmth and comfort where there are no days and years. Think how she must be wishing that we could know today, how nothing but our sadness can really pass away. And think of her as living in the hearts of those she touched For nothing loved is ever lost -and she was loved so much. E. Brenneman
