NELLIE ZWARICH (nee PROCYSHYN) September 24, 1921- February 16, 2003 It is with deepest sorrow that our family announces the passing of our dearly beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Nellie Zwarich on Sunday, February 16, 2003 at the Victoria General Hospital, Winnipeg, MB at the age of 81 years. She leaves to mourn and cherish her memory, sons, Garry Zwarich (Violet) of Winnipeg, Gordon Zwarich of Niagara Falls, ON; daughters, Diane Gabrielle (Garry) of Winnipegosis, Sandra Jira (Alfred) of Winnipegosis, Shirley Burdz (Paul) of Winnipeg, Margaret Bidzinski (Martin) of Winnipeg and Gloria Zwarich of Winnipeg; daughter-in-law Donna Zwarich of East St. Paul. There are 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters, Ann Hucaluk of Dauphin, Caroline Hucaluk of Winnipegosis and Pearl Makowski of Maple Ridge, BC, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband William on April 1, 1984; son David on September 30, 2002 and brothers, Onufry, Nick and Alex Procyshyn; sisters, Lena Nykoluk, Mary Coma and Catherine Sedor. Nellie was born in the Cork Cliff district on September 24, 1921. She grew up on the farm and attended school at the Cork Cliff Hall and then the New Cork Cliff School. Nellie began school when she was eight years old and left at an early age to work as a housekeeper and homemaker for various families in the area. Nellie worked at the Winnipegosis Hotel as a cook, then as a custodian at the Winnipegosis Collegiate and prior to her retirement at the local bakery. She was a kind, gentle and hard working woman who loved and cared for her family above all else and was very proud of them as we were of her. She was a member of the Winnipegosis Ukrainian Catholic Church and also belonged to the 60 and over Club. Nellie enjoyed playing bingo, reading, puzzles and her many games of cards with her sister Caroline and her nephew Peter. For the last two and a half years, Nellie resided in Winnipeg where she continued to enjoy her card games with her family along with John and Sonia Burdz and Mel Rusiecki. Prayers were offered in the Winnipegosis Ascension Ukrainian Catholic Church on Tuesday, February 18 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service was held on Wednesday, February 19 at 10:00 a.m. in the Winnipegosis Church. Rev. Fr. Eugene Rudachek officiated with the service concluding at the church. Holly Hryhork served as cantor for the services. Pallbearers were Daren Zwarich, Trevor Zwarich, Mike Steginus, Brad Jira, Steven Chipney and Dennis Routhier. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation. Dearest Mom rest in peace. God is taking care of you now. We will always treasure your perserverance in the face of all hardships and your devotion to us. We will love you forever and We will treasure your memory forever Till were all together again. The Sneath Strilchuk Funeral Service had care of the funeral arrangements.
