ELSIE (ALICE) HUCULAK (nee DANYLUK) Peacefully on Friday, February 21, 2003 at Riverview Health Centre, our mother with her family at her side, went to be with her Lord and Personal Saviour Jesus Christ. She was 83 years old. Elsie was predeceased by her son Sydney; her husband John; and sisters, Olga, Bessie; and brother Steve. Elsie is survived and will be lovingly remembered by her children, Morris (Sonia), Marlene (Jerry), Diane (son-in-law Gayland Thomas), Janice, Ed (Carol), Don (Lorraine), Bob (fiancee Claudia), her 11 grandchildren and her six great-grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn her sisters, Mary Hadway, Lena Yakimishen, Anne Kumka, Nellie Dzaman, Doris Scraba-Korman; and her brothers, John, Tony and Nick Danyluk. Elsie was born on July 17, 1919 in the Drifting River District of Manitoba. She married her husband John in 1940 and they farmed in the Zoria District before settling in Gilbert Plains in 1942. Over the years Mom spent time caring for her home and garden. In 1968 Mom and Dad moved with son Bob to Winnipeg, where she resided until her passing. Mom loved family gatherings, visiting relatives and being with friends. She always kept herself busy volunteering at the Knights of Columbus House Senior Complex. There she took part in afternoon teas, bingo, gardening and spent quality time with all her friends at the Columbia House. Mom loved life. Her smile always brought joy to everybodys heart. Mom leaves a legacy of compassion and generosity. Her door was always open and she was always willing to lend a helping hand. She was a pillar of strength and always there when you needed her most. She will be sadly missed but never forgotten. We will soon meet again. The family wishes to thank Dr. Kumar Belgaumkar and Rose Stevens for their care and compassion, also to Dr. Mulder, nurses and staff of 3E Wing, Riverview Health Centre. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 27 at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. with the Very Rev. Fr. Henry Lakusta officiating. Interment will follow at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be grandchildren, Kenny and Kelly Verbiwski, Brent and Ryan Thomas, Justin and Sean Huculak. If friends so desire, donations in memory of Elsie may be made to the charity of ones choice. You can only have one mother, Loving, kind and true. No other friend in all the world Will be so true to you. For all her loving kindness, She asks for nothing in return. If all the world deserted us, To our Mother we could turn. For those of us who have a mother, Treasure her with care, For you will never know her value, Till you see that shes not there. To hear her voice, to see her smile To sit and talk with her awhile, To be together in the same old way, Would be our dearest wish today.
