Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGE THOMAS MALBY July 10, 1911 - February 20, 2003 Dad was born in Winnipeg, MB, the fourth in a large family of nine children. Raised and educated in Winnipeg, he enjoyed summers with the family at the cottage at Laclu. A graduate in engineering at the University of Manitoba, he worked briefly with the Federal Government in topographical mapping, before joining Alcan, where he spent the rest of his working life as a professional engineer in the construction area. He was involved in many construction projects, including the Kitimat-Kemano project, in which he was chief engineer, and prior to his retirement in 1973, as chief engineer (on loan to Aluminum UK) for the construction of the aluminum plant in Newcastle UK. Apart from his professional life, to which he was so dedicated, he was a lover of the outdoors, enjoying fishing, hunting and "green thumbing" in the backyard. George is survived by his wife Helen; son Fred and daughter-in-law Sandy; grandchildren, Darryl, Sean and Michelle; as well as his older brother Arthur in Peterborough; and brother-in-law Don Rothney in Winnipeg. He also leaves behind two nieces and several nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Fred-Louis, Fred; and sisters, Florence, Margaret, Ethel, Doris and Marion. He will be sadly missed by all. Georges life will be celebrated at All Saints Anglican Church, 4755 Arthur, Ladner, BC, at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 28, with interment of his ashes in All Saints Garden of Memory.
