KATHLEEN MURIEL KIHN (nee NORTH) Peacefully with her family by her side at Boundry Trails Health Centre in Winkler, MB, Kathleen Kihn aged 81 years of Manitou, MB. Kathleen was born to Harriet and George North February 1, 1922 in Huby, Yorkshire, England. She came to Canada in 1946 on the Queen Mary along with daughter Pat as a war bride. She married Leo in 1944. He was serving in the R.C.A.F. in England. Dad was repatriated to Canada in 1945 and was eagerly awaiting the arrival of his family. Kay is survived by her husband Leo; daughters, Pat Kihn and Sandra (Ken) Dobson; a son Ken (MaryAnne) grandchildren, Sherry and Joe Lafortune (Winnipeg), David and Angie Dobson (Brandon) and Clayton Kihn (Winnipeg) great-grandchildren, Jesica and Christian Lafortune and Jeremy and Ryan Dobson. Mom was very active in the Manitou community. She taught Sunday school at the Anglican Church and CGIT at the United Church for numerous years. Mother was a dedicated member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion. She held many executive offices with the legion and was honoured with a life membership in 1986. Mom was extremely proud of being a war bride. She was an active member of the Manitoba War Brides Association attending numerous reunions. Kay also donated her time as a volunteer at the Pembina Manitou Health Centre and was honoured as a life member in 2002. She always considered it very fortunate to have travelled back home to England many times. She introduced British tradition and her British family to son Ken, daughter Pat, daughter Sandra (Ken), and Sherry and David. We will be forever grateful to Mom for introducing us to our British family. Mom was predeceased by her father in 1978, her mother in 1980 and her daughter-in-law Donna Bingham Kihn in 1982. She also bade farewell to her dear British friend Carol Rhodes (2003) and brother-in-law Terry Lund (2002) from England. Mom is survived by her family in England, brothers, Ken and Cyril; sister-in-law Pam; sister Mildred; numerous nieces and nephews; "special cousin" Phyllis Young and daughter Susan. Pallbearers: David Dobson, Clayton Kihn, Sherry Dobson, Lindy Sharp, Raymond Keen and Stan Sawatsky. Funeral service will be held from Manitou Mennonite Bretren Church on Tuesday, February 25 at 2:00 p.m., Rev. John Nikkel officiating. Interment will follow in Manitou Cemetery. A Legion Ladies Auxiliary Honour Guard will participate in the service. Friends if they desire may donate in her memory to CancerCare Manitoba at 109-675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
