Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMURRAY CHARLES ARENSON With sadness we announce that our beloved husband and father, Murray Charles Arenson, passed away at St. Boniface Hospital on February 23, 2003. He was only 56 years old, but had been suffering from a worsening illness for the past five years. Murray was born in Winnipeg on November 29, 1946, to Sadie and Harry Arenson, both of whom predeceased him. He attended Robert H. Smith, River Heights and Kelvin Schools. He received his Bachelor of Arts and his L.L.B. from the University of Manitoba and was called to the bar in 1972. After articling, he spent a year in Israel. In 1976, he married Carole (nee Bubis) with whom he had two children, Sara and Michael. He remained in sole practice in Winnipeg until he had to retire in August, 2001 for health reasons. His clients included several generations of families who looked to him for solid advice and careful guidance in civil legal matters. Murray was a devoted, loving husband and a gentle, personal, fun-loving father. He was an intelligent and witty man who enjoyed a good debate. He had a wry, even quirky sense of humour, which he readily shared with family, friends, and almost anyone else he met in his day. He was an avid reader and kept up on the world news, being particularly concerned about events in Israel. Murray had a hard last few years, between hospitals and a brief stay in the Sharon Home, but through all of his troubles, he maintained his dignity, his strong mind, and his sense of humour. He lived his last days with gusto. Murray is survived by his wife, Carole, their children, Sara and Michael, his brothers, Avie (Sarah), Ken (Anna Marie), Alex (Darlene), Jimmy (Sue) and Jerry (Penny), his in-law family (Morris Bubis, Harriet and Elliot Rodin, Adrienne and Brian Katz, Mordy and Nina Bubis) and many other relatives. The funeral was held on Wednesday, February 26, 2003 at Shaarey Zedek Synagogue, with Rabbi Alan Green officiating. Pallbearers were his five brothers and his nephew Joel Zivot. Murray will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him. If so desired, donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated. Also, if you have any memories of Murray you would like to share, please write them down and send them to his family. Thank you to the many health care professionals who helped Murray over the past few years, and in particular to those at Victoria Hospital, both in the ICU and on the third and fifth floors. Thank you as well to the staff of the Kanee Centre of the Sharon Home and to those involved in his homecare.
