KIMIYE NISHIKAWA On Sunday, February 23, 2003, Kimiye Nishikawa peacefully left her family and many friends. Kimiye was born on October 25, 1915 in Hikone, Japan and spent her childhood there. After her marriage to Fred Kotaro Nishikawa, Kimiye moved to Vancouver, BC. After the war, the family relocated to Thunder Bay and spent many happy years in that community. In 1980, Fred and Kimi moved to Winnipeg where two of their children resided. Kimi, in her own quiet way, was a source of strength and positive energy. Whether it was her cooking, crafts or gardening, Kimi would always bring out the beauty in things. This truly reflected her outlook on life. She was an active member of the Winnipeg Buddhist Church and followed the way of the Buddha all her life. Kimi only saw the good in everyone and always made the best of any hardship she faced. Her gentle eyes, kind spirit and unending wave goodbye will be in the memories of all the people who knew her. Kimi was predeceased by her husband Fred. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Dorothy (Kaoru) Suzuki, Robert (Caring), Jim, George (Sally) and Louise (Jim) Murray; grandchildren, Joan (Rob), Ron (Shelley), Gerry, Joy, David, Jon, Jennifer (Steve), Paul, Corinna and Jeff (Clare) great-grandchildren, Ryan, Veronica, Ivy and Rhiannon; many friends; and devoted canine companion Terry. The family wishes to thank all the staff of 3E at Deer Lodge Centre and West Park Manor for their care and compassion. Viewing will take place from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday, February 27 at Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook St. Funeral service 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 28 at Manitoba Buddhist Church, 825 Winnipeg Ave., with Sensei Fredrich Ulrich officiating. You touched us with your inner beauty, grace and serenity; And our lives were enriched. You gave us your love, support and concern unconditionally; And we were stronger. You saw only goodness And helped us see the beauty in life. Rest easy Mom We will cherish you in our hearts forever. BARDAL FUNERAL HOME 843 Sherbrook Street, 774-7474
