THOMAS JOHN MUIR August, 1917 - February, 2003 On February 24, at Concordia Hospital, Tom passed away peacefully with family at his side. Tom will be lovingly remembered by Edith, his wife for 65 years, his daughter Linda Leonard (Paul) grandchildren, Jeff (Sabrina) of Calgary, and Andrea (Michael) great-grandson Taylor, and extended family. Tom is survived by his brothers, Jim (Irene) and Bob (Joy) his brother-in-law Art; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Larry and sister Ann. Toms career included working at the Bay, the American News Company, Union Carbide Canada, and the last 13 years of his career were spent as administrator of the IOOF Personal Care Home in Charleswood, which he always said were the most rewarding years of his working life. Tom was an advocate for seniors for many years. His volunteer work included Manitoba Safety Council, 55 Alive Program, Alzheimers Society and the MSOS, where he became a lifetime member. Cremation has taken place. There will be a memorial service at Golden Links Lodge, 2280 St. Marys Road, where he was a resident, on Thursday, March 6 at 10:45 a.m. The family would like to express sincere thanks to the staff of the Golden Links Lodge, in particular 1 North, and also to the excellent nursing staff of Concordia Hospital, 2 North.
