ELIZABETH (ELSIE) MARY McMAHON Suddenly on Sunday, February 23, 2003, at Concordia Hospital, Elsie passed away at the age of 69. Elsie was born at Roland, MB, on June 1, 1933. She grew up in St. Vital, where she received her education, graduating from Glenlawn Collegiate in 1951. She leaves to cherish her memory, her mother Jennie McMahon; brother James and wife Betty of Winnipeg; brother Gordon of Edmonton, AB; brother Donald of Salt Springs Island, BC; and many nieces and nephews; and her longtime friend Joyce Gardner. She was predeceased by her father Orville in 1972; sister Dorothy in 1996; brother Barnet in 1996; Dons wife Betty in 1999; and Gordons wife Eileen in 1985. Elsie worked all her adult life as a bookkeeper, last of which was Convalescent Nursing Home of Winnipeg, until her retirement in 1998. Elsie loved to read and to travel. Her many trips took her to the United States, Canada, Europe and North Africa, also an Alaskan Cruise and a Caribbean Cruise over the years. She also enjoyed plays at Manitoba Theatre Centre. She and Joyce held season tickets for many years. Funeral services were held on Friday, February 28 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home. Rev. Earl Gould officiated. In lieu of flowers, donations in Elsies memory may be made to a charity of choice. Special thanks to Dr. A. Vajcner and staff of Concordia Hospital.
