MARTHA FROHLINGER
Date of Passing: Feb 25, 2003
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARTHA FROHLINGER 1914 - 2003 Our mother and grandmother, Martha Frohlinger died peacefully on February 25, 2003. Mourning are her children Agnes Fessler (Mathew Iskra) and Tom Frohlinger (Heather Pullan) and grandchildren Andrea Fessler-Erro (Davide Erro), Alexandra Frohlinger, Joey Frohlinger and Becky Frohlinger. Martha was predeceased by her husbands, Louis Frohlinger (1998), Sandor Gordon (1956) and her brothers Otto (1945) and Dave (1999). Marthas life is a primer of 20th century Europe. She lived through two world wars, the dissolution of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, the depression, virulent anti-Semitism, the holocaust, hyperinflation, communism and the 1956 Hungarian Revolution. Her strength of character, wisdom, and courage saved many lives and enabled her family to survive the horrors of persecution and oppression. Widowed in Hungary during the 1956 Hungarian Revolution, she arrived in 1958 as a refugee, in Montreal. Martha married Louis Frohlinger in 1961 and moved to Hamilton, Ontario. She retired from a life in business in 1976, to Winnipeg, to pursue her life-long interest in the science of astrology. Mother taught beginner and advanced classes in astrology, founded the Manitoba Astrology Association and hosted a weekly astrology program on Shaw Cable. She was rightly proud of her induction into the Astrology Hall of Fame. She touched many lives over the years through astrology and through the sheer force of her personality, both in Manitoba and in Boca Raton, Florida where she spent many winters. Mother liked fishing, classical music, good food, television news and life. Where ever Martha went, she was loved and respected as a friend, confidant and advisor. Moms greatest pleasure and pride were her grandchildren. Their accomplishments were never missed. Their needs were always met with love, humour, support and guidance. She will be sorely missed. Funeral will take place at Chesed Shel Emes 1023 Main Street at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, February 27 with interment following at the Bnay Abraham Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Louis and Martha Frohlinger Fund at the Jewish Foundation of Manitoba C400-123 Doncaster Road, Winnipeg, (204)477-7525 or to a charity of your choice.
