Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKATHLEEN FRANCIS STEFANSSON On Wednesday, February 26, 2003 Kathleen passed away at the Grace Hospital after a lengthy illness. Kay was born in Winnipeg on February 10, 1916 and lived all her life in Winnipeg. After completing high school, Kay entered the School of Nursing at the General Hospital where she graduated as a R.N. After remaining on staff at the hospital for two years, Kay became one of the first Stewardesses for T.C.A. (now Air Canada) and consequently travelled to many parts of the continent. Her career was interrupted by the sudden terminal illness of her mother. Kay took a leave of absence from the airline and cared for her mother at home. Her father also developed a severe illness and she remained at home many more years. She met and married Laurence (Larry) Stefansson in 1960. Together they spent a happy 20 years together before Larry passed away in 1981. Besides her husband Larry, she was predeceased by her parents, Robert Frances OBrien and Cecelia OBrien; as well as her only brother, Arthur (Jimmy). Kay is survived by her stepson Ronald Stefansson; her grandson Tod (Lara) and children Erika, Anika, and Taylor; sisters-in-law, Verna Solmundson and Marin Powell (Quentin) brothers-in-law, Leonard Stefansson (Barbara), and Magnus Stefansson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. At Kays request, cremation has taken place, and there will be no memorial service. Kathleens family wishes to express their gratitude for the kindness and loving care received at the Grace Hospital during her illness.
