RAYMOND J. FITZMAURICE Passed away peacefully on February 28, 2003 at St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 85. Ray will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 44 years Yvonne, two daughters, Diane Sumner (John) and grandchildren, Daniel and Rita of New Zealand; Lisa Fitzmaurice (Nils Pokrupa) and son Marc Fitzmaurice (Nancy) and grandchildren, Ashley and Colin. Also leaving to mourn him, sisters, Agatha Tucker, Cecily Pickering, Rita Lodge (Charles), Lucille Doyle, Marie Douglas and Joan Nadurak (William) two brothers, Leo and Gerald. Also numerous sisters and brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Louise (Adam) his sister Margaret Clarkson; and brothers, Cyril and Eugene. He was a quiet man, always ready to help neighbours, friends and family. He was a Square and Round dancer and loved old time music. He did a lot of travelling and retired to winters in Arizona. He enjoyed all his grandchildren and visited the ones in New Zealand as much as possible. He loved life at the cottage where he was close to nature. He used to imitate the song of the birds and they would answer him back. We wish to thank the staff at St. Boniface Hospital, especially the nurses and also the orderlies on 6E for their wonderful care and kindness towards Raymond. Also to Dr. P. Erhard for all his care and compassion. Prayers will be held at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Des Meurons St., on Wednesday, March 5 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at St. Boniface Cathedral on Thursday, March 6 at 10:30 a.m. with viewing at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Boniface Research Foundation or a charity of your choice.
