CECILE (CIS) HELENE VERPLAETSE (nee FOUCHARD) With great sorrow we announce the passing of Cecile on Friday, February 28, 2003 at the age of 91. Dear mother of Dorothy, she passed away peacefully at the Riverview Health Centre. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Camille, her mother and father, and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Cis leaves to mourn her loving daughter Dorothy (Maurice) Ratte, grandchildren, Jacqueline (Kenneth) Kohut and Marc (Jillian) Ratte; and great-grandchild Andrew Ratte and his brother Zach. She leaves her sisters, Henriette Robertson, Antoinette Van Buekenhout, Madelaine Mager, Louise (Johnny) Druwe; and her brother Gus Fouchard. She also leaves special niece May La Freniere, numerous other nieces and nephews and wonderful neighbours Louise and Roy. Cis was a woman who loved to work for others. She gladly knitted hundreds of sweaters, slippers, tams and scarves for anyone who asked. Her knitting and crochet work have found homes here and abroad. Cis was also renowned for her famous cream puffs, which she willingly baked for one and all. She never stopped working and was an inspiration to all until the Lord finally called her home. Pallbearers will be her nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3G 9Z9, or to the Riverview Health Centre, Palliative Care, 1 Morley Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3L 2P4.
