ELISE AMMETER On Saturday, March 1, 2003 at the Carman Memorial Hospital in Carman, MB, Elise Ammeter aged 99 years passed away. Elise Ammeter was born in Arigar, Georgia (Russia) on January 2, 1904. In 1929 her family came to Canada and settled in Starbuck. Elises first job was as a housekeeper in Deloraine. She also worked for several years in Winnipeg. In later years Elise ran the household in Starbuck for her parents, Rosina and Gottlieb as well as her two brothers, Peter and Walter. Elise was predeceased by her parents, as well as seven brothers, Fritz, Arnold, Siegfried, Gottlieb, Otto, Erwin and Emil; and one sister Emma Ammeter of Winnipeg. She is survived by one sister Frieda Ammeter of Winnipeg and two brothers, Peter and Walter Ammeter of Starbuck as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Elise was an enthusiastic rose grower and gardener, and she was known for her excellent cooking. She gave generously to many charities and was a strong supporter of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Starbuck. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 5 at 2:00 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Starbuck with Pastor Ron Vert officiating. Interment will take place in the Starbuck Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of ones choice. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Carman Memorial Hospital for their wonderful care of Elise as well as the staff of the Home Care Regional Health Authority and especially Agnes Wiedman.
