CATHERINE CATHY MARY TERESA COLE (nee MACDONALD) Peacefully, at Victoria General Hospital on March 2, 2003, Catherine (Cathy) Mary Teresa Cole (nee MacDonald) passed away at the age of 72. Left to cherish her memory is her devoted and loving husband William James; four children, Kathleen (Walter) Masnyk, Patricia (Peter) Rogaski of Winston Salem, NC, John (Gisele Poirier) Cole, and Sheila Cole Cayer (Jason Cayer) of Chilliwack, BC; four granddaughters, Shelagh, Maria, Sophie and Lea. She was predeceased by her father Roderick MacDonald and her mother Kathleen Barlow. Catherine was born on October 11, 1930 in Winnipeg and spent her childhood years in Winnipeg, Lewis, McCreary and Makinak. As a young adult she worked for the Canadian National Railway and was a member of the Air Force Reserve. In 1961, she married William and together they established a loving and caring home for their family for the next 42 years. Mom was a dedicated homemaker who loved to cook, crochet, play bingo and cards, and read. She enjoyed entertaining friends and family, especially those occasions when the entire family shared a meal together. She was fortunate to travel with Dad on several trips across Canada, the country she loved dearly. She had many fond memories of trips to see her daughters in British Columbia and North Carolina. Mom loved all animals, particularly her German shepherds, Butch and Max. Catherine was a volunteer for the St. Agnes Guild, the Childrens Hospital, Canadian Cancer Society and several Transcona schools. The family would like to express its sincere thanks to the staff at the Victoria General Hospital and Dr. Ray Singer, for the wonderful care and support provided to Mom and Dad during Moms stay. We will always appreciate the extra special support and compassion provided to our family during this difficult period. We also appreciate the support and encouragement provided by all of our families and friends who helped Mom and Dad by your prayers, cards, flowers, telephone calls, and visits. Prayers were said at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 4 at Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook St. Funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, March 5, 11:00 a.m. at St. Edwards Roman Catholic Church, 818 Arlington St., with Rev. Fr. Vicente Tungolh officiating. Interment to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave. Pallbearers will be Ryan Goletski, Bert Gregory, Ernie Jonasson, Jason Cayer, Walter Masnyk and Daniel Barlow. In lieu of flowers, donations in Catherines memory may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society. God looked around His garden and found an empty space. He then looked down upon the earth and saw your tired face. He put His arms around you, and lifted you to rest, Gods garden must be beautiful, He only takes the best. Mom, you are now free of all pain and anxiety. Rest in peace knowing you are forever in our hearts. BARDAL FUNERAL HOME 843 Sherbrook Street, 774-7474
