OLIVE GALLOWAY (nee FINDLAY) On March 2, 2003, our beloved mother passed away peacefully at the age of 94 years, after a short illness in Kin Place Personal Care Home in Oakbank. She was predeceased by her husband Joe in 1985; her parents, Will and Mae Findlay; brother Jim; and brother-in-law Charlie Connor. Left to cherish her memory is her son Bob (Margaret) grandsons, Joe (Charlene), Patrick (Michelle) and great-grandchildren, Jared, Trenton and Brooklyn; special nephew Herb (Marjorie) Carruthers and their daughters, Valerie, Adele, Gail and their families. Also left to cherish her memory is her sister Hazel Connor and sister-in-law Margaret Findlay, as well as many nieces and nephews. Olive was born July 21, 1908 in Graysville. After secondary school she attended Teachers College in Winnipeg. After taking a teaching position in Vivian, she met her husband to be Joe Galloway. Together they farmed and she taught school at many of the local one-room schools in the area, Oak Crossing, Queens Valley, Anola, Uppingham, McDavid and Millbrook. She retired in 1971 from teaching and in 1980 Olive and Joe moved from the farm to the Sunrise Lodge in Anola. Olive was a very warm, generous person who dearly loved her family and each of her students. Wherever she went, she made wonderful friends with her happy nature. She enjoyed all aspects of life from dancing music, reading, cooking, and growing flowers and vegetables. She especially loved babies and enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with great enthusiasm. Even at 94 and with limited vision she not only marvelled at the beauty of the clouds, trees and sky but also was ready for any new adventure! The family would like to say a special thank you to Dr. Wiebe and everyone at Kin Place Personal Care Home for their dedicated care and love. Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 7 at 11:00 a.m. in Oakbank United Church, Oakbank, MB with Rev. James Wetelainen officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kin Place Personal Care Home, Oakbank, MB. GREEN ACRES FUNERAL CHAPEL 222-3241
