SHIRLEY ELAINE BALE (nee BYRKA) June 21, 1959 - February 28, 2003 On Friday, February 28, 2003 at the Health Sciences Centre, Shirley found peace after a courageous battle with cancer. Her memory will be forever cherished by her parents, Peter and Kay; sisters, Louise (Ron), Gail; nephew Brent; step-nephew Robert; step-niece Lyn-Marie (and family) great nephew Brett; longtime special friend of the family Val. Shirley was employed at Scotia Bank for over 20 years. Shirley was a true free spirit who enjoyed life to the fullest. Her zest for life made her rich in friends; her sense of humour will be remembered by all. Her home was her haven where she enjoyed many hours decorating and gardening. Her pets, Monty and Smokie, were her love. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held Thursday, March 6 at 7:00 p.m. at Knysh Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main St. The family wishes to thank all the many family, friends, and neighbours for all their kindness. Special thanks to Dr. Pitro Czaykowski, the Gold Surgery Team, and the staff at Heath Sciences Centre, ward GH3 for all their care and comfort. Shirley enjoyed the many gifts and flowers she received during her illness and has requested, in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to the Childrens Wish Foundation, 350 St. Mary Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3C 3J2 or the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent St., Winnipeg, MB R2L 2X3.
