He lived in Panama with his parents and brothers in 1910 to 1912 when his father and oldest brother Frank worked on the Panama Canal. He arrived in Winnipeg in 1920 where he worked at the CNR until he retired in 1963. During the Depression years when he was laid off from the CNR, he worked in Toronto and in New York City. For the past two years he lived at West Park Manor, fulfilling his wishes of a few years prior. He was very happy there. He enjoyed the entertainment, especially when Ruben was singing. He particularly enjoyed the gazebo, the beautiful flowers and the wonderful annual garden party in the summer. Special thanks to Ruben Latour, Beth Petz, chaplain Ken Perry, Ivy James, and to all the staff, all the volunteers, for caring for our dad, for listening to him and laughing with him and providing enjoyment for him. He had a special fondness for dogs. He was very saddened when "Tasha" went to sleep. Happiness returned when the new family pet "Gizmo" visited him regularly! How he looked forward to those visits! He loved his two daughters unconditionally and was not shy to show anyone how proud he always was of them and their families! He spent many an hour choosing cards with just the right words and always signing them "Daddy". And now, Daddy - Your memory is our keepsake With which well never part God has you in His hands We have you in our hearts Two tired eyes are sleeping Two willing hands are still We will miss you, Daddy, yes we will.
