JAMES JACK TURNBULL September 4, 1929 - March 4, 2003 Left to cherish his memory are wife Ishbel, daughter Ishbel Moore (Michael), son Jim (Christine), daughter Yvonne Amey (Jim) grandchildren, Tara (Liam), Brad, Andrea, Ishbel, Elizabeth, Kieran, Jimmy; sisters, Jess (Scotland) and Isobel (U.S.A.) sisters-in-law, Joan, Marguerite and Dolina (Scotland) and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Jim was born in Dennistoun, Scotland and grew up in Stepps where he learned the auto mechanic trade in his fathers garage. Jim was an active member of the Boys Brigade band. He also enjoyed playing piano and accordion. In 1953 Jim married Ishbel Lindsay and lived in Moodiesburn with their three children until 1967 when they immigrated to Winnipeg. Jim worked in the auto service industry, real estate and promotional sales. A man of many interests, he belonged to the Robert Burns Club, Royal Scottish Country Dancers, produced "Scottish Album" for local TV and enjoyed being part of the Paradise Village musicians. In the past he served for many years as an Elder in Kildonan United Church. A Past Master of Fort Osborne Lodge No. 144 which amalgamated with Ancient Landmark Lodge No. 3, Jim continued to participate fraternally in many aspects of the Masonic Blue Lodge. He was a Past Patron of Queen Winnipeg No. 1 OES. Jim celebrated life in all its fullness. He and his wife had just returned from a pre-50th wedding anniversary Caribbean cruise. His benevolence, sense of humour, ability to see the best in people and bright smile will be sadly missed by the many lives he touched. Few could "address the haggis" like Jim Turnbull. Service of Remembrance will be held on Friday, March 7 at 3:00 p.m. in Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Hwy. 1 East at Navin Road, with The Rev. Canon John Caird officiating. The service will conclude in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jims name can be made to the charity of your choice. "If theres another world, he lives in bliss; If theres none, he made the best of this." (Burns) GREEN ACRES FUNERAL CHAPEL 222-3241
