BROTHER JOHN (VIANNEY) ROY Peacefully on March 6, 2003 our brother, John passed away after a short illness. John was born in 1941 in Winnipeg. He was the oldest of five boys. At the age of 29, John joined the Trappist Monastery, located in St. Norbert. Later the Monastery was relocated to Holland, MB. John was a monk for 33 years and will be sadly missed by his religious family and his immediate family. John is survived by his four brothers, Paul (Brenda), Dave (Anne), Philip (Wendy), Dennis; and his eight nieces and nephews; as well as his Uncle Albert Sloan; Auntie Noreen Fleming; Auntie Pat Andre; and all his cousins. John is predeceased by his father, Joseph Napoleon and his mother Eileen Mary. Prayers will be held in Holland, MB in the chapel at the Monastery on Sunday, March 9, at 7:30 p.m. Mass will be held on Monday, March 10, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel at the Monastery. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the reception room. A special thank you to the staff of Notre Dame de Lourdes Hospital. They were especially kind and helpful in the families absence. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or to the Canadian Cancer Society. Rest in Peace.
