ARNOLD ALBERT MORTON On Thursday, March 6, 2003, Arnold Morton passed away at the Grace Hospital at the age of 90 years. He is survived by his wife Bertha; daughter Marilyn Morton and son-in-law Brian Zimmerman of Winnipeg; sister Marie Smith of Dryden, ON; and brother Carman of Victoria, BC. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Lawrence Bird of Brandon, MB; sister-in-law Marion Bird of East Lansing, MI; and numerous nephews and nieces. Arnold was predeceased by his parents, Robert James Morton and Ella Maud Morton (nee Kellar) brothers, Charlie, Harold, Walter, John, Donald and Norman; and sisters, Stella Jackson, Clara Thomson and Ethel McArthur. He was born on April 9, 1912, at Dryden, ON, where he grew up on the family farm. In his younger years he worked as an automotive partsman and as a night watchman at the Dryden paper mill. He moved to Winnipeg in 1952 and married Bertha in 1954. Soon after his arrival in the city he began working as a custodian for Winnipeg School Division #1, where he was employed until his retirement in 1977. He worked at numerous schools, including Grosvenor, Sargent Park, Greenway, and Clifton. The family would like to thank the staff of the 2nd floor at the Grace Hospital for all their care and support. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 11 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., with David Jury and Bruce Waddell officiating. Pallbearers will be Paul Borys, Tim Borys, Don Carlson, Donavon Hill, George Jury and Fred Roehle. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Arnolds memory may be made to a charity of ones choice.
