Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLINDSAY (THOMAS JOHN LINDSAY) SPENCE October 24, 1937 - March 1, 2003 Lindsay passed away at his home on March 1, 2003 after a brave and courageous battle with metastatic melanoma cancer. He was 65 years old. Lindsay will be deeply and sadly missed by his best friend and loving wife, Doris and his little (canine) princess, Sheba. Lindsay is also survived by his mother Marion; his sons and daughters-in-law, John and Connie of Victoria, Rob and Kathy of Cranbrook, and Scott and Rosanne of Winnipeg; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Jock and Geraldine of Fort Francis, ON and Sandy and Grace of Winnipeg; his sister-in-law Adele Spence; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Keith and Pearl Yearwood and Bob and Pat Yearwood, both of Simcoe, ON, Don and Helen Yearwood of Cloyne, ON and Marion and Jim Quinn of Campbellford, ON; his grandsons, Bradley, Devon and Alex; and his grand-daughters, Nicole, Lisa, Amy, Karmelle and Tess; his nephew and niece, Brian and Pieper Yearwood of Surrey, and their son Reese and daughter Brittney; as well as his many other nieces and nephews in Manitoba and Ontario. Lindsay was predeceased by his father Jack, his brother Joe, his granddaughter Jennifer, his mother-in-law Bertha Yearwood and his faithful canine companion, Shadow. Lindsay worked as a pressman for the Winnipeg Tribune, starting at the age of 19, and moved to Vancouver in 1974 where he worked as a pressman at Pacific Press until his retirement in January 1998. Lindsays love of the beautiful scenery and long riding season of the West Coast let him fulfil his passion for riding his Harley Davidson. He and Doris rode many miles and enjoyed wonderful riding adventures together. Lindsay was a patient, generous and caring man who will be missed by all that knew him. A memorial service will be held on March 15 at 2:00 p.m. at Fraser Heights Funeral Home, 14835 Fraser Hwy., Surrey. In lieu of flowers, friends who so wish may make memorial donations directly to the Canadian Cancer Society, 565 West 10th Avenue, Vancouver, BC V5Z 4J4; the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Canada, No. 303 - 1338 West Broadway, Vancouver, BC V6H 1H2; or to the Surrey SPCA, 6706 152nd Street, Surrey, BC V3S 3L4.
