DOROTHY MAY CROSBY (nee CONRAD) Died peacefully at home in Victoria, BC on March 6, 2003 in her 85th year. The beloved wife of the late Percy Crosby. She is survived by her sons, Bob and his wife Jackie of Saskatoon, SK, John and his wife Joan of London, ON; her grandsons, Scott, Philip, Darin and Ian; great-grandsons, Julian and Angus; her brother Quentin Conrad of Baltimore and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy developed a love of the English language early in her life and spent a life time enjoying literature, theatre, poetry and history. She was the founding librarian of the Henderson Regional Library in Winnipeg, MB (1961) and its chief librarian until her retirement. She spent many of her last days reading and defeating her sons at scrabble. Her humour and keen insights will be missed by us all. Special thanks to the Palliative Response Team and to the South Victoria Home Care Givers. A memorial service will be held at McCall Bros. Family Chapel, Johnson at Vancouver, on Tuesday, March 11 at 2:00 p.m. with a reception to follow. McCALL BROS. OF VICTORIA (250) 385-4465

  • STARTED MY CAREER IN LIBRARY WORK AT HENDERSON REGIONAL LIBRARY. MRS CROSBY WAS A CARING BOSS WHO HAD THE PATIENCE TO HELP ME SLOWLY FEEL CONFIDANT TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE RUNNING OF THE LIBRARY. I ENJOYED WHERE WE WOULD SORT CARDS AND JOKE AROUND BEFORE THE LIBRARY OPENED. THERE WERE BOOK COVERS TO PUT ON, HELP THE PUBLIC AND DELIVER BOOKS TO SHUT-INS. MRS CROSBY WAS A KIND PERSON. WE WOULD HAVE CHRISTMAS PARTIES AT HER HOUSE WHEN MANY OF US WERE SINGLE AND AWAY FROM HOME. - Posted by: Steve Rash (employee) on: Mar 09, 2021
