GEORGIE LEONA DEGERNESS On Friday March 7, 2003, Georgie Leona Degerness peacefully passed away in her sleep at Oakview Place, Winnipeg, MB, at the age of 102 years. She was born on June 16, 1900 in Decorah, IA, USA. In 1901 she moved with her family to Bagley, SK. In 1926 she graduated as an R.N. at Weyburn General Hospital. Her nursing career brought her to Winnipeg, MB. Where she nursed at the Municipal Hospital, Health Science Center, and private nursing until she retired. Georgie dedicated her life to the care of others as well as her commitment to the care of her family. Georgie enjoyed maintaining contact with all her many friends that she made throughout her life. She enjoyed gathering family history and keeping up to date on there whereabouts. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family. Special thanks to Oakview Place for their loving care. A memorial service will be held at Oakview Place 2395 Ness Ave. in Winnipeg on Tuesday, March 18 at 2:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Nipawin, SK.
