DELMAR ROBERT HOLMES 1925 - 2003 Peacefully on Saturday, March 8, 2003 with his family at his side Delmar Robert Holmes passed away at home. He was predeceased by his daughter, Cindy (Richard) and his granddaughter, Krystin. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife Doris; his sons, Del (Gail) and Russ (Ilene) daughters, Sue-Ann (Patrick) and Janis (Garry). Also left to cherish his memory are his grandchildren, Michele, Jocelyn, Meggin, Russell, Michael, Reagan, Garry, Thomas, Kathryn, Matthew, and Ryan; his one great-grandchild, Dominique; and his sisters, Jean (Harv) and Monie. Del was born in Hespeler, ON where he and Doris met, were married and began their family. Together they moved to Montreal briefly, before arriving in Winnipeg in 1951 where he worked in the western Canadian garment industry as a representative for a number of North American textile mills. He loved the sports of hockey, lacrosse and golf. Many of his fondest memories centered around times spent at the rink with his sons at the Melrose Community Club. After his retirement he spent countless hours at Southwood, where he could never sink a putt when it mattered. Del was a devoted husband, father and grandfather whose passion for life was characterized by compassion, fairness, justice and honesty, and it was infectious. Whether it was with family or friends, at home or at work, he enjoyed himself, and we enjoyed being with him. He made a difference in every life that he touched, and we will miss him. A funeral mass will be celebrated by Fr. Peter Monty on Tuesday, March 11 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Ignatius Church, 255 Stafford St. Interment will take place at Assumption Cemetery. The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Ian Maxwell, Dr. K. Abdul-Nour and the staff at the CCU St. Boniface for their care and kindness. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation Suite 200 - 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6, or a charity of choice. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
