GERARD OVILA STE. MARIE (JERRY) Peacefully on Thursday, March 6, 2003, Gerard Ste. Marie passed away at home at the age of 69 years. Gerard was born on January 27, 1934 in Ste. Anne, MB. He was predeceased by his mother Wilhelmina; father Adrien; his brother Gabriel; and sister Meriza. Gerard is survived by his loving wife Mary Ann; and their seven children, Suzanne (James Penner), James (Marielle), Brian (Pam), Jeanette (Donald Gregoire), Kathleen (Rene Saindon), Elizabeth (Fabian Penner), Tracy (Richard Carriere) and his 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He also leaves his brother Armand (Georgette) sister Cecile (Roger Legal) sister-in-law Marie; brother-in-law Ron (Dorothy), brother-in-law Larry (Margret) and many nieces and nephews and family friend Darcy Claeys. Gerard worked at Swift for 17 years and then at Rothesay for two years. Gerard enjoyed farming and loved his horses. He would often be seen with his team of horses pulling a wagon in the streets of Ste. Anne, MB until he suffered a stroke in 1996. Gerard enjoyed seeing his grandchildren, playing cards and spending time with his friends. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 11 at 2:00 p.m. in Ste. Anne Catholic Church with Father Rene Chartier presiding. Viewing will take place at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow in Ste. Anne Cemetery at a later date.
