Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDITH ELIZABETH BJORKLUND (nee BJORNSON) March 24, 1947 - March 10, 2003 It is with great sorrow that the family announces the passing of Edith Elizabeth Bjorklund at the age of 55 years. She leaves to mourn her loving husband Clifford; two sons, Dale, Darren and daughter Leeanne. She also leaves behind her three year old grandson Austin; her parents, Edith and Lloyd Bjornson and also many relatives and friends. Edith grew up in the Weston District of Winnipeg and attended Cecil Rhodes School and Daniel MacIntyre Collegiate. While growing up Edith was a member of Sparling United Church where she took part in church activities. Music was a big part of Ediths life. She sang in both junior and senior choirs and enjoyed the fellowship of the many friends she made. After leaving school she worked for several years at the Great West Life Assurance Company. Edith married Clifford Bjorklund in 1968. After living in Winnipeg for two years they moved to Grand Rapids, MB where they operated a family business for 18 years. Edith made many friends and was always involved in her community. In 1989 they moved to Dufresne, MB. They then made their home in St. Vital. After enduring a long battle with Diabetes, Edith succumbed to complications of the illness. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 15 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. (South of the Royal Canadian Mint). A time of fellowship and refreshments will be held in the Reception Centre. A private family interment will take place at a later date in Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. Ediths honorary pallbearers will be Bill Henry, Barry Henry, Allen Siddle, Herman Turner, Glen Clark, Bill Brown and Milton Lindsay. The family wishes to thank the many doctors and nurses at the St. Boniface Hospital and Health Sciences Centre. A special heartfelt thanks goes out to doctors and nurses in the Dialysis Unit at the St. Boniface Hospital as well; as their kindness will never be forgotten. A special thank you goes out to Bill, Lorna and Kevin Brown for their help and support. You will always be in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Edith to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.
