MARGARET E. MCDONALD The family of Margaret McDonald sadly announces her peaceful passing on Saturday, March 8, 2003 just four days after celebrating her 78th birthday. Her parents James and Lillian Mossop; sisters, Ivy Mossop and Lillian Baldock; and the father of her children, Sidney McDonald, predeceased her. She is survived by four children, Wayne (Fern), Barbara (Denis), Donald (Gloria), and James (Kim) and eight grandchildren, Michelle, Derek, Samantha, Adam, Kristol, Nicole, Michael, Angela; and three great-grandchildren, Zachary, Ethan, Emily; brothers Clement (Irene) and James; several in-laws on the McDonald side of the family; as well as many nieces and nephews and their families. She leaves behind a special friend, Beatrice Piche. Margaret was born March 4, 1925 in Shand SK. As a young woman, she enrolled in the Canadian Womens Army Corps and served from 1942 to 1946. She was employed for many years at the Rancho Don Carlos and then worked for 18 years at Red River College. Mom was a loving mother and grandmother and spent many happy summers with her family at her cottage at Sandy Hook. She was extremely proud of her children and their accomplishments. Margaret enjoyed many wonderful years socializing and vacationing with her sisters and brothers. The Annual Mossop Family Cribbage Tournament at Victoria Beach was a favourite event. She was a kind and generous friend to many people. Sincere thanks to all Moms care givers and staff at Central Park Lodge Poseidon Centre for their dedicated care and kindness during her short stay there. The family would like to thank the doctors, staff and University of Manitoba nursing students of the Palliative Care Unit, St. Boniface General Hospital for the tender, compassionate and respectful care provided to our mother and for comforting us during a difficult time. A service to celebrate her life will be held Friday, March 14 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway. A private family interment will be held at Brookside Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit at St. Boniface General Hospital, 409 Tache St., Winnipeg, MB, R3H 2A6. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
