HELEN MAURINE REW (nee STEWART) With sadness we announce the passing of Helen Rew on March 9, 2003, at Meadowood Manor. Helen was born January 8, 1918, in Ocheydan, IA and grew up mainly in Gladstone, MB. On January 1, 1940, she married her husband Fred, waited for him through the Second World War and eventually settled in the community of St. Charles. Helens joys in life were her family and friends through her church involvement, many years as secretary at Buchanan School, and family activities such as her trips with her grandchildren. Her door was always open, we will miss her. She was predeceased by her husband Fred and her son Larry. Helen leaves to mourn her sister Lois Stewart; her daughter Linda (Don) Wikander; grandsons, Clinton and Douglas; granddaughter Karyn (James) Hope; great-grandsons, Jordan and Zachary; brothers and sisters-in-law; three nieces and one nephew. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 12, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Charles United Church, 673 Isbister St., with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, ON1160, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
