Date of Passing: Mar 09, 2003
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRICHARD RALPH MAY It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Richard on March 9, 2003. Rick will be deeply and sadly missed by his loving wife Sharon; and his best-friend Duke (canine). He will be lovingly remembered by his mother Margaret May; his daughters and sons-in-law, Christine (Vince Sward), Jennifer (Craig Duncan), Tammy (Brian Toffan), Samara (Jeremy Froese) his stepsons, Randy Brown, Philip Brown (Cita Klein) grandchildren, Rebecca, Courtney, Richard, Megan, Nicole, Teagan, Wayne, Elena and Christopher; his brother Joe May (Diane) his sister Irene (Howard Molyneux) and many nieces and nephews. Dad was born on April 7, 1945 to Lawrence Henry May and Margaret Lightburn and lived most of his life in Transcona. He was a long-time employee of CN, retiring in 1995. On September 25, 1987 Dad married Sharon Brown. Rick and Sharon shared an interest in gardening, making their yard a beautiful place for friends and family to gather. Together they also created wonderful handmade cut-outs to decorate their yard during holidays for all to enjoy. Rick loved his dogs, birdwatching, cooking and taking trips to the US with Sharon to visit relatives. When not with his wife, Rick liked hunting, fishing and meeting for breakfast with his buddies. Dad was a very loving and giving man. Watching his children marry and have children of their own was a great joy for him. When his children all left home, Dad would take in foster dogs from the humane society. A memorial service will take place on Friday March 14 at 2:00 p.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St. Dads cremated remains will be buried near his father in the Transcona Cemetery at a later date. Since flowers were one of Dads passions, we will gladly accept bouquets. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
