Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLUCILLE MARIE PORTER (nee DESPINS) Peacefully on February 28, 2003, in Victoria, BC, my beloved mother passed away. "Aunty Lou" to many nieces and nephews, she will be sorely missed by everyone whose life she has touched. Also, missing her will be her daughter Bernice McLean (John) of Winnipeg Beach, MB; grandchildren, Crystal Wiebe and Tanya Walker, both of Winnipeg, as well as Jeff Wiebe of Calgary; great-grandchildren, Kristopher and Kayleigh of Winnipeg; sisters, Lynn Hiebert (Jake) of Carman, MB, and Bernadette MacMillan (Angus) of Guelph, ON; brothers, Pierre Despins (Simone) of Edmonton, AB, and Andrew Despins of Vernon, BC. She was predeceased by her parents, Beatrice and Casimir Despins as well as her ex-husband Frank Porter; her son Gerald; sisters, Laurette, Yvonne and Adele; brothers, George, Bill, Hector, Leo and Emile. Mom was born in Marcelin, SK, on July 1, 1907. In 1928 she moved to The Pas, MB. In the late 30s she moved to Winnipeg and in 1965 to Victoria. She will be remembered for her warmth, kind heart, generosity and sense of humour. She always said she was special because the whole country celebrated her birthday. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, March 15 at 10:30 a.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. (south of the Royal Canadian Mint), with reception to follow.
