Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM FREDERICK (BILL) ARMSTRONG October 19, 1926 - March 11, 2003 Passed away in Edmonton, AB after a lengthy and brave fight with cancer. Bill grew up in Norwood and graduated from Norwood Collegiate. He subsequently obtained his degree in Chartered Accountancy. During his career he worked for the Tax Department in Winnipeg and Edmonton. He then worked with C.I.L. (Canadian Industries Limited) as a comptroller in Brownsburg and Montreal, PQ. Following, he worked until retirement for many years as Assistant Auditor for the City of Edmonton. He enjoyed many sports activities and at one time skipped the Quebec Rink in the Canadian Briar at Kitchener Waterloo, a year in which the Richardsons rink of Saskatchewan were the winners. He was active in his United Church in younger years in Norwood and subsequently in both Montreal and Edmonton. His many interests and hobbies included music, sports and gardening. He was active in the Prostate Cancer support group in Edmonton, at one stage chairing that particular organization. Bill was predeceased by his first wife Marianne and his parents, Fred and Maud Armstrong and brother-in-law Blair Breckon. He is survived by his two children, Kirk and Sue Jill; his second wife of over 30 years, Marg, and four step-children, Steve, June, Gail and Donnie; several grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Also surviving are his sister Jean Breckon and brother Dr. Jack Armstrong and wife Glenda. He fought a long and courageous battle against both prostate and skin cancer and received tremendous support from Marg. He loved life and all his family. He also enjoyed countless friendships over the years. He leaves us with many good memories. Rest in Peace Bill. A memorial service is to be held at McDougall United Church in Edmonton on Monday, March 17 at 2:00 p.m. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
