DONALD KORCHINSKI 1944 - 2003 After a long courageous battle with cancer, Donald Korchinski, aged 59 years, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2003 with his wife and children at his side. Donald was born in Hubbard, SK on January 11, 1944. Don was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Helen; as well as his brother, Milo. He is survived by his brother Ron; sisters, Pat (Elwin) and Iris (Ron) sister-in-law Debbie. Left with fondest memories of a loving husband, father, grandpa, papa and friend is his wife of 21 years, Sandra "Sandy"; their children, Corinne (Bob), Bill (Denise), Jim (Laura), Ron (Lisa), Rick (Lisa), Debbie; nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild; nieces and nephews. Don was a jack of all trades. After leaving the family farm at a young age, Don went to Teachers College, was a bookkeeper for Burns Meats, and he surveyed in the Arctic for 14 years, much of that was working for Canadian Engineering. Don then began a career with horses that became his true calling in life. He began training standardbred horses and ended his career with the thoroughbreds at the Assiniboia Downs. Don loved being around the horses, people and the activities of the track. The family would like to thank the staff at the Riverview Health Centre for their kindness and loving care given to Don. Cremation has taken place. There will be a celebration of life for Don on Thursday, March 20 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. A reception will follow.
