ANNA LOEWEN Mrs. A. Loewen (nee Hiebert) passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 13, 2003 at the age of 92 years. She was born August 11, 1910 in Gouldtown, SK and was predeceased by her husband John C. Loewen, two brothers, one sister, two daughters-in-law and one granddaughter. She is survived by four sons, John, Henry, Cork, Peter and their families. John and Anna moved approximately 18 times in the first 16 years of marriage. They eventually moved to Steinbach, to Altona, to Morris and finally Winnipeg. Anne lived at Donwood Manor Nursing Home since February 1999 and was well cared for. (The family thanks you!) Annes family remembers her as a woman with lots of patience. She was concerned about her family, and was also known for her generous, giving spirit. A person rarely came away from a visit with Anne without something in hand. She cared about people and remembered details about their lives, that is, until later years when she began to quip -"please forget that I forgot!" She enjoyed puzzles, crosswords and clipping "strange and wonderful" stories and pictures from the paper. Anne remained active and independent well into her 80s, also doing stitchery, visiting the mall, and helping in the seniors block she lived in. She was a proud, independent person and although she found some of lifes changes difficult, she maintained a positive, uncomplaining, humorous approach to life. In fact, she may be most well remembered for her spark and sense of humour, being famous for her one liners (in German and English). As an example of her zest for life, one of her lifes goals was to have a ride on: a plane, a boat, motorcycle, snowmobile, hot air balloon, helicopter, etc. She managed to do most of these things, having had the helicopter ride on her 80th birthday. She even added an elephant ride at about 70 years old. A motorcycle ride at age 85 was given by Walter Klassen (Funeral Director) and after he was questioned as to why he did it - did he want her sooner than later. Special thanks to the staff of 2 South at Donwood Manor Personal Care Home. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 18 at 2:00 p.m. at Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1987 Henderson Hwy. with interment in Altona Cemetery. If friends desire, donations may be made to Donwood Manor Personal Care Home, 171 Donwood Ave. R2G 2H9. There are many things well remember and miss about you, but- why did we LOVE you, mom, grandma, great-grandma? Because we loved you!! Until we meet again. Arrangements entrusted to Klassen Funeral Chapel, 338-0331.
