Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGARTH ROSS McGONIGAL The family of Garth Ross McGonigal sadly announces his passing on March 15, 2003, in Oakview Place, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimers Disease. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved sons, Dan (Deb), Tom (Laurel), Larry; sister Joan (Regina) brother Harvey (Toronto) his adored grandchildren; and his devoted Terrie Derbach. Also sharing his loss are Deb MacDonald (Ed Sennema), Randy MacDonald (Lorraine), Ron Crook (Kathy) and their children; sister-in-law Pearl McGonigal; and brothers-in-law, Gary and David MacDonald; and many nieces and nephews. Marilyn McGonigal shares in their loss. Garth was predeceased by his wife Gail; parents Andrew and Hazel; brothers, Marvin and Glenn; and sisters, Ethel and Esther. Garth was born in Regina, SK on August 29, 1937. He attended the University of Saskatchewan where he received a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree and later his Chartered Accountancy. In Winnipeg he was employed with Bristol Aerospace as Vice President of Finance. He was a member of St. Charles Country Club, the Granite Curling Club and the West Winnipeg Rotary Club. He enjoyed sports and was an enthusiastic football and hockey fan. He loved to read, play bridge and travel. Garth will always be remembered as a kind and generous man. He had a warm sense of humour and a ready twinkle in his eye. He was a good father and a source of strength and set his family a good example. Should friends wish, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Grace Hospital Foundation, 300 Booth Dr., R3J 3M7 or the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald St., R3C 4G2. The family deeply appreciates the care from the staff at Oakview and Bayshore who became a part of his life. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, March 19 at 12:30 p.m. in Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., with the Rev. Ian Mills officiating. A reception will follow.
