Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJESSIE MAIN (NET) WATTERSON (nee REID) 1908 - 2003 On Saturday, March 15, 2003 Jessie (Nettie) Watterson passed away peacefully at Oakview Place Nursing Home, Winnipeg at the age of 95 years. Her husband Joseph predeceased her in 1979. She is survived by her daughter Maureen, brothers, Rev. Wm Reid (Mary Grace) of Nova Scotia and Robert James Reid (Kaye) of Roland, MB. She was also an aunt and great aunt to many nieces and nephews and has cousins in Canada, Scotland and New Zealand. Jessie was born in Aberdeen, Scotland on January 21, 1908. She came to Canada at the age of two years with her parents William and Jessie Main Reid. They lived in the Homewood District and on the family farm at Myrtle. In preparation for her vocation she attended Normal School in Manitou, MB and became a School Teacher. She taught at Queens Valley (near Anola) and after her marriage to Joseph due to the scarcity of teachers during the Second World War she was called back. Years later she worked as casual help at the Winnipeg General Post Office. Her family lived on a grain and animal farm in Queens Valley, MB for ten years before moving to Winnipeg in 1946. She loved travelling, going to Europe and four countries in the British Isles, several trips to the USA then getting more acqainted with our own towns in Manitoba. She attended the Lions Place Adult Day Club, a Wednesday member. Mom was in good health and very interested in her daily life at Oakview Place and kept up with current events till the last two weeks when she became ill. Special thanks to Oakview Place Unit 2E the recreation department and dietary services for their loving care. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday March 19 at 11:00 a.m. in Thomson Funeral Chapels 669 Broadway. Interment will take place in the family plot at Brookside Cemetery. Friends may call at the Chapels on Tuesday, March 18 between 7:00 and 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, should friends so desire donations may be made in Jessies memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald St., Suite 200 Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.
