Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGERTRUDE ZABUDNY (nee SCHNERCH) December 21, 1916 - March 14, 2003 Peacefully, with her family at her side, Gertrude passed away at Gimli Betel Home at the age of 86 years, on March 14, 2003. Gertrude leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Eva (John Chrapchynski), Winnie (Joe Lysak), Pat (John Funk) and son Frank (Geri) grandchildren, David (Betty), Wesley and Kevin Chrapchynski; Sharon Hughes, Pam Funk; Jennifer, Caralyn and Julie Zabudny; great-grandchildren, Ryan and Krystal Flemington; Amanda and Julia Chrapchynski; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Jack; infant sons, Peter and George, infant grandson Lesley; parents, Martin and Caroline Schnerch; sisters, Margaret Capuska, Lizzie Lesko; and brothers, Leon and Frank Schnerch. Gertrude was born in Berlo, MB and farmed with her husband Jack for many years in Foley, MB. She was a devoted housewife, mother and baba. She enjoyed gardening and lovingly sharing her harvest with many family and friends. Gertrude will be remembered for her cooking homemade bread and perogies and also her gentle ways and her generous hospitality. Prayers will be said on Tuesday, March 18 (tonight) at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Gimli. Funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, March 19 at 10:30 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church, Gimli, with Fr. Peter Chorney officiating. Interment will follow in the North Foley Cemetery. Her pallbearers will be David, Wesley and Kevin Chrapchynski, Ryan Flemington, Nelson Capuska and John Zabudny. Honorary pallbearers will be all the rest of her grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff at Gimli Betel Home for the care and kindness shown to Gertrude over the years. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Gertrudes memory to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, Unit 10-120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2 or the Gimli Betel Home Foundation. We cannot see her, but she is with us VICHNAYA PAMYAT Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Gimli in care of arrangements.
