ROBERT DIXON On the morning of Friday, March 14, 2003 Robert Southcoat Dixon died at Victoria General Hospital. Robert is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Ivy May, and his four children, Roberta (Don), Gordon (Diana), Rae (Bernie) and Richard (Carol and daughter Eileen). His seven grandchildren include Caroly (Hans), Robert, Lysa, Terra (Scott), Marla, Jeffery and Stephen. Also four great-grandchildren, Christopher, Michael, Jennifer and Meaghan. He was predeceased by his brothers, Ernie and Ray, and has two surviving sisters, Frances and May. Although born in Montana, Robert grew up and matured in Moose Jaw, SK during the depression years. Known for his personal resilience and mental toughness, Robert was the eternal optimist. This optimism and his strong faith in God were responsible for seeing him through the Depression, the Second World War and a long and lingering illness near the end of his life. Robert spent most of his working years with the Canadian Pacific Railway as an Accountant. He retired in 1980 as the Chief Accountant, Prairie Region Data Centre, in Winnipeg. Roberts favourite hobbies included gardening, carpentry, hymn singing and following the Saskatchewan Roughriders. The family wishes to thank Dr. J. Eby and the Rev. Dr. David Rolfe for their continuing care during the past 10 years. They also wish to express appreciation to Dr. Steve Mackenzie and the staff of 6D for their care and compassion during Roberts final few hours. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 18 at 3:00 p.m. at the church of the Advent in Colwood. God grants each of us a time to sing our song, And though his day may have come and gone, A gentle soul will remain to guide us on." SANDS of VICTORIA (250) 388-5155
