EUGENE GEORGE (GINO) LYSAK It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Eugene after a courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, March 16, 2003 at the age of 62 years. He went from the arms of his loving family into the arms of Christ. Born in Vita, MB, April 16, 1940 and raised in Kirkfield Park, St. James, Winnipeg, he leaves to mourn his devoted wife of 35 years Celine and two daughters, Angela (Sean) and Monique (Tim) brother Danny (Audrey) and two grandchildren, Kayla and Trevor, all of Winnipeg. He was predeceased by his father George in 1970, brother Norman in 1971 and mother Annie in 1991. Eugene was a dedicated employee and enjoyed his part-time job as a custodian for Royal Canadian Properties at the Dominion Shopping Centre Mall since 1998. He was formerly employed by the City of Winnipeg Planning Department for 36 years and retired as an Enforcement Coordinator. He was also an active volunteer and member of various organizations and a recipient of numerous awards. He served as a Director with Credit Union Central for 12 years and was currently President of the Civic Credit Union since 1985. Eugene was a devoted parishioner at both St. Thomas More and Holy Cross churches acting as an alter server and acolyte, singing in the St. Boniface Diocesan Choir and serving as a board member. One of his many passions in life was his love for baseball which began at an early age and continued on with him coaching not only his daughters but many others in the community. He also served as a Director and Sports Coordinator for the Norwood Community Centre. Off the field, he had a great love for music and could often be heard playing his violin. He was also a natural behind the camera and spent many evenings and weekends moonlighting as a professional photographer. When not behind the camera, Eugene and his family spent their time together at the cabin. He had a real zest for gardening and spent much of his time working in the yard. A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, March 20 at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Cross Church, 252 Dubuc St., Winnipeg, MB. Interment and reception to follow at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. (south of the Royal Canadian Mint) Honorary pallbearers are David Fay, Len Oneschuk, Roger Dufour, Don Chubey, Gerry Diduch and Robert Savage.
