JAMES HARRY PARKES On Sunday, March 16, 2003 at Dryden General Hospital, Jim passed away at the age of 82 after a short illness. Predeceased by dear friend Anne Holland and her son Ross; parents, Philip and Beatrice Parkes; brothers, Philip, Clifford, Clarence, George, Robert, David and sister Eva Walsh. Survived by sisters, Ruby Relf and Joan (Harry) Arseniuk; brother Ben (Irene) sisters-in-law, Iris (Clifford) and Margaret (Robert) and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by Annes daughter Judy (Dave) Smith and their children, Michele, Janet, Patrick and Shannon. Born in Port Arthur on May 11, 1920 and coming to Manitoba as an infant, he moved back to Ontario in the 1950s. Jim enjoyed trucking in his earlier years and later he was employed as manager of the bar at Dryden Hotel until his retirement. In 1998 Jim and Anne moved into Patricia Gardens where he loved helping with and organizing many activities, he especially enjoyed the evening card games. Jim served overseas with RCOC during the Second World War and saw action in France, Belgium and Italy. He was a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at the Stevens Funeral Home, Moffat Chapel, Dryden on March 22 at 2:00 p.m. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Patricia Gardens through the Stevens Funeral Home, P.O.
