ROBERT EDWARD THICKETT It is with deep sadness the family of Robert Edward Thickett announce his passing on Saturday, March 15, 2003 at Chilliwack General Hospital. He slipped away peacefully in the company of family and friends. Rob was born in Hull, England on February 19, 1922, the only son of Eliza and Edward Thickett. He was educated in Hull, and apprenticed as a woodworking machinist. During the Second World War he served in the R.A.F. March 24, 1945, was one of the best days of his life when he was married to Marjorie Waltham. Their marriage lasted 53 years until Marjorie passed away in May, 1998. In 1952, Rob immigrated to Canada and settled in Winnipeg where he was joined the following year by wife Marjorie and daughter Lynda. In Winnipeg, he was a longtime employee of Bristol Aerospace Ltd. as a Quality Control Inspector. During 1978 Rob and Marjorie moved to Calgary, AB, where they resided until retirement. In 1986 they moved to Abbotsford and then in 1995 settled in Sardis, BC. Rob is lovingly survived by daughter Lynda Joy (Rick) and sons, David (Jacqui) and Jeff (Penny), 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by his sister Joan Daddy of Winnipeg and many in-laws, nieces and nephews in Winnipeg and England. Funeral service scheduled for Thursday, March 20 at 3:30 p.m. from the Chapel of Hendersons Fraser Valley Funeral Home, 34537 Marshall Rd., Abbotsford, BC with Rev. Dr. Trevor Walters officiating. Cremation. Honorary pallbearers, David Thickett, Jeff Thickett, Rick Joy and Steven Joy. A reception will follow at the Clubhouse, Promontory Lake Estates, 6001 Promontory Rd., Sardis, BC.
